It’s a chaotic, high-energy odyssey through New York’s subcultures that balances loud comedy with a gritty, heartbreaking reality. THE PROS Mikey Madison is a revelation here. She brings a fierce, foul-mouthed energy to Anora that makes her more than just a victim of circumstance. The film hits a 9 because Sean Baker’s direction is incredibly immersive; he captures the frantic, neon-lit nights and the grey, hungover mornings of New York with total honesty. The supporting cast, especially the "henchmen" sent to deal with the marriage, provide some of the funniest, most uncomfortable banter seen on screen in years.
