⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Based on the 1981 Alan Alda film, this smart comedy-drama follows three couples—Kate (Tina Fey) and Jack (Will Forte), Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani), and Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver)—who have spent decades vacationing together every season. The group dynamic is blown apart when Nick abruptly leaves Anne for a much younger woman, Ginny (Erika Henningsen), and insists on bringing her along for the quarterly trips. Spanning a full year of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter getaways, the series explores the messy evolution of long-term friendships and the pained realization that people can outgrow their own history. THE PROS This is an amazing series because it manages to capture the "White Lotus" vibe of luxury vacations gone wrong while staying grounded in sincere, mid-life reality. It hits an 8 because the chemistry between Tina Fey and Steve Carell is a total highlight; their banter feels honest, sharp, and effortless. Having the original creator Alan Alda return for a guest role was an amazing touch that felt like a fair shout for the best cameo of 2025. The production is top-tier, with each "season" beautifully filmed to reflect the changing moods of the group, and Colman Domingo brings a sincere, stylish energy that makes every scene he’s in feel like an absolute win. It’s a smart, funny watch that isn't afraid to get pained and honest about the sacrifices people make in long marriages.
