⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY If you think your job is a grind, try being the person who cleans the evidence room and realizes the detectives are doing it all wrong. High Potential (2024–Present) follows Morgan Gillory, a single mother of three with a 160 IQ and a "high-potential intellectual" (HPI) brain that doesn't have an off switch. While working a night shift cleaning the LAPD, she "corrects" a case board, leading to an unlikely partnership with the by-the-book Detective Adam Karadec. It’s a witty, high-energy procedural that proves being the smartest person in the room is a bit of a nightmare when you're also trying to raise kids on a cleaner’s salary. THE PROS Kaitlin Olson is the absolute business—she brings a sincere, chaotic energy that makes Morgan feel 100% authentic rather than just another "genius" trope. The show is a genuine belter because it balances the "case of the week" with a deep emotional intelligence, especially regarding Morgan's struggle as a working-class mum. The chemistry between the rebellious Morgan and the rigid Karadec is a total win, evolving from mutual annoyance into a sincere partnership. It’s a witty-ly sharp look at socioeconomic class that you don't usually see in glossy US crime dramas, and the visual style of Morgan "seeing" the evidence is a total win for the eyes. THE CONS It misses the 9/10 "Epic" mark because the mystery plots can occasionally feel a bit wet and formulaic compared to the character work.
