⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 5/10 THE SUMMARY Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman reunite for this Netflix rom-com that feels like it was designed by an algorithm. Joey King stars as Zara, the long-suffering personal assistant to Chris Cole (Efron), a self-absorbed Hollywood megastar who can't even handle his own breakups. When Zara finally quits in a rage, Chris turns up at her house to win her back—only to find her widowed mother, Brooke (Kidman), instead. The two hit it off instantly, leading to a secret romance that Zara eventually walks in on. It’s a classic "uncomfortable family dynamic" story that tries to tackle age gaps and identity while keeping things light and glossy. THE PROS Nicole Kidman is the best part of the movie, bringing a sincere and warm energy to Brooke that makes her desire for a fresh start feel genuinely relatable. Zac Efron is clearly comfortable in these charming, slightly dim-witted roles, and he has a decent enough spark with Kidman to keep the romance watchable. It’s a 5/10 because the production values are high, with the kind of cozy, high-end interiors that make for easy Sunday afternoon viewing. Kathy Bates turns up as the grandmother and completely steals every scene she’s in, providing the sharp wit and emotional grounding the rest of the film often lacks.
