⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Stephen Strange is struggling with the "one path to victory" guilt when a girl named America Chavez literally drops into New York, hunted by a giant eyeball monster. She can jump between universes, and it turns out the person trying to steal that power is a grief-stricken Wanda Maximoff. Now the Scarlet Witch, Wanda wants to find a reality where her sons actually exist, and she’ll tear the multiverse apart to get them. Strange has to hop through dimensions—meeting a secret society called the Illuminati and a dead-ite version of himself—to stop Wanda before she erases everything. THE PROS Sam Raimi is back, and his horror DNA is a total win for the MCU. The "music battle" and the scene where Wanda crawls through a mirror are epic status and unlike anything we’ve seen in this franchise. Elizabeth Olsen is quality, delivering a performance that is both terrifying and sincere, making her one of the most complex "villains" in years. It’s an 8/10 because it’s punchy, weird, and visually creative, especially the sequence where they tumble through dozens of different worlds in seconds. The cameos are a winner for the fans, but they don't overshadow the dark, pulpy story. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the plot can feel a bit sluggish in the middle when they’re stuck in the Illuminati’s high-tech waiting room. Some of the dialogue is a bit of a damp squib, leaning hard into "comic book cheese" that doesn't always land. It misses a 9/10 mark because it feels a bit quality-deficient in how it handles Wanda’s transition from 'WandaVision' to full-on slasher villain, which might leave some viewers a bit confused. Also, the Illuminati are dispatched so quickly it feels like a bit of a tease. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and highly recommended for fans of Raimi’s 'Evil Dead' style. It’s a winner for the creative visuals and the dark tone. Go and watch it for the "Zombie Strange" finale—it’s pure quality. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Deadite Cameo: Sam Raimi’s "lucky charm," Bruce Campbell, appears as Pizza Poppa. In true Raimi fashion, he’s cursed to hit himself for the entire movie—a direct nod to the hand-fighting in 'Evil Dead 2'.• Savage Sight: During the multiverse-hopping sequence, for about two seconds, you can see a dinosaur and a lush jungle. This is the "Savage Land," a famous Marvel comic location, and the VFX team had to fully animate the T-Rex just for that tiny window of time.• Digital Dining: In the Illuminati’s headquarters and on the monitors at the Baxter Foundation, the scrolling data on the glass displays features a hidden sushi recipe—the favorite recurring easter egg that has now officially survived into the Multiverse era. THE VIBE Like a haunted house ride through a kaleidoscope. It smells like old spellbooks, wet asphalt, and pizza balls.
