⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY A single mum and her two kids move to a crumbling farmhouse in Oklahoma left behind by their eccentric, estranged grandfather. It turns out the old man was Egon Spengler, who spent his final years hiding out to stop a literal hell-on-earth situation. When the kids find a hidden laboratory and a dusty Ecto-1, they realize the town is sitting on a supernatural powder keg. With the help of a seismologist teacher who’s a bit of a fanboy, they have to suit up and finish the job their grandad started before the world gets "busted" for good. THE PROS This is a win for anyone who felt the 2016 version was a bit of a head-scratcher. It’s a sincere love letter to the original films, but it brings a punchy, *Stranger Things* vibe that makes it feel fresh. Mckenna Grace is a total belter as Phoebe; she captures Egon’s socially awkward genius perfectly. The practical effects and the return of the original gadgets are a celebratory explosion of nostalgia. It’s a good movie because it treats the legacy with respect, and that final act is epic status—bring some tissues, because it hits you right in the feels. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the pacing can feel a sincere bit sluggish while the kids are just exploring the farm, which might be a bit of a damp squib if you’re expecting non-stop ghost hunting. It misses a 9/10 because the ending relies a lot on re-treading the plot of the 1984 original, which feels a bit safe. Also, the "Mini-Pufts" are clearly just there to sell toys—they’re funny, but they don't add much to the grit of the story. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a total recommendation for a family movie night. It’s a vault essential for fans who want to see the torch passed properly. Go and watch it for the Ecto-1 field chase and the emotional ending—it’s a belter. They wanted the kids to feel the actual weight of the history they were carrying.• The Muncher Sound: To make the ghost "Muncher" sound unique, the team used recordings of a pig eating a watermelon and pitched them down to make it sound more supernatural and punchy. THE VIBE Like finding a box of your dad’s old toys in the attic that still work. It smells like ozone, stale marshmallow, and farm dust. It makes you want to drive a hearse through a cornfield, look for ghosts in your basement, and realize that some family secrets are actually pretty cool.
