    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 5/10 THE SUMMARY Cole (Chris Evans), a needy, salt-of-the-earth farmer, falls hard for the mysterious Sadie (Ana de Armas) after a single date. When she stops responding to his texts, he pulls a grand romantic gesture by tracking her to London, only to discover she’s actually a high-level CIA operative. Kidnapped and thrust into an international arms deal involving a deadly biochemical weapon, Cole has to survive a gauntlet of assassins while Sadie tries to finish her mission. It’s a role-reversal action-romance that attempts to find the spark between domestic clinginess and global espionage. THE PROS The film is an easy watch if you just want some bright, expensive-looking spectacle. Chris Evans is game for the physical comedy, playing a "damsel in distress" role that flips his usual Captain America grit on its head. Ana de Armas handles the stunt work with her usual flair, looking every bit the lethal professional. There’s a sequence involving a series of high-profile cameos that provides a fair shout of humor, popping up just as the energy starts to dip. It’s a glossy, fast-moving ride that doesn't ask much of the audience, making it a decent background flick for a lazy afternoon. THE CONS It sits at a 5 because the central chemistry is a massive head-scratcher. Despite being two of the most charismatic actors on the planet, they feel more like awkward siblings than a couple in the middle of a world-ending crisis. The script is a bit of a slog, relying on clunky dialogue and predictable tropes that we’ve seen done better in movies like *Mr. & Mrs. Smith*. It misses a higher mark because the CGI often looks surprisingly flat for a movie of this scale, and the villain—played by Adrien Brody—is a bit of a cartoonish letdown who never feels like a visceral threat. THE VERDICT 5/10. A loud, sparkly, but ultimately hollow action-comedy. It’s a fair shout for a mindless stream, but it lacks the honest heart or the punchy writing needed to be memorable. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Scarlett Johansson was originally cast as Sadie, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, leading to the 'Knives Out' reunion between Evans and de Armas. • Chris Evans wanted his character to feel as "non-heroic" as possible, so he focused on making Cole's reactions to the violence feel frantic and uncoordinated compared to Sadie’s precision. • The production moved through several global locations including Atlanta and Washington D.C., utilizing massive green screens to recreate the more exotic, pained environments of the Middle Eastern desert.
