⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Ever wonder what’s going on inside someone’s head? Riley is a happy 11-year-old whose life gets flipped upside down when her family moves to San Francisco. Inside her brain’s "Headquarters," five personified emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—are trying to navigate the chaos. When Joy and Sadness get sucked out of the control room and lost in the vast "Long Term Memory," they have to trek back through Riley's mind to save her from becoming a total emotional zombie. It’s basically a high-stakes road trip through imagination, dreams, and forgotten imaginary friends. THE PROS This is a total win for Pixar, proving they can make grown adults sob over a pink elephant made of candyfloss. It’s highly recommended because the concept is absolute genius; explaining complex psychology using "islands of personality" and a "train of thought" is a celebratory explosion of creativity. Amy Poehler is a belter as Joy, but Phyllis Smith as Sadness is the sincere heart of the movie. It’s an epic status animated flick because it actually respects kids enough to tell them that being sad is sometimes exactly what you need to be. THE CONS It earns a 9/10 because the middle section where they’re wandering through the "Abstract Thought" zone can feel a sincere bit sluggish—like a lecture you didn't sign up for. Also, if you’re not in the mood for a heavy emotional beating, some of the scenes (looking at you, Bing Bong) are a bit of a head-scratcher in terms of how much they want to ruin your day. It only misses the 10/10 because the parent emotions are so funny that you almost wish we spent more time in their heads instead of just Riley’s. THE VERDICT A 9/10. Highly recommended and a vault essential for anyone with a pulse. It’s punchy, colorful, and will make you want to call your mum and apologize for being a moody teenager. Go and watch it for the "TripleDent Gum" jingle and the cat’s brain at the end—it’s a belter. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Real Inspiration: Director Pete Docter came up with the idea after watching his own daughter grow up and become more "quiet and withdrawn." He literally wondered, "What’s going on in her head?"• The Office Vibe: While everyone thinks Phyllis Smith was cast because of *The Office*, the producers actually saw her in the movie *Bad Teacher* and realized she was the perfect voice for Sadness.• Deleted Journey: In early drafts, Joy was paired up with Fear instead of Sadness. They eventually realized that the whole point of the story was about learning to be sad, so Joy and Sadness became the main duo. THE VIBE Like a bright, glowing memory orb that smells like birthday cake and fresh rain. It makes you want to hug your old toys, embrace your bad moods, and realize that growing up is a bit of a mess for everyone.

THE SUMMARY
