⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY The IMF is officially disbanded, leaving Ethan Hunt out in the cold just as he discovers the existence of "The Syndicate"—a shadow organization of rogue agents dedicated to global chaos. While being hunted by his own government, Ethan tracks the Syndicate across the globe, eventually crossing paths with the mysterious Ilsa Faust. Is she a double agent, a traitor, or something in between? It’s a high-stakes game of chess involving underwater heists, opera house assassinations, and a motorbike chase through Morocco that’ll have you gripping your seat. THE PROS This is a total win and a genuine belter. The addition of Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust is epic status; she’s a total standout and arguably the best character introduced since the original. The opera house sequence is a celebratory explosion of class and tension, proving that Christopher McQuarrie knows exactly how to build a set piece. It’s highly recommended because it balances the "superhuman" stunts with a genuinely clever spy plot. The underwater vault heist is punchy, terrifying, and makes you hold your breath right along with Ethan. THE CONS It earns a 9/10 because, while highly recommended, the villain—Solomon Lane—is a bit of a slow-burn who can feel sluggish compared to the high-octane action surrounding him. The final act in London is very clever, but it can be a bit of a head-scratcher if you aren't fully dialed into the political double-crossing. It misses the 10/10 mark only because the middle act slows down slightly to explain the lore, but it’s still a masterclass in action filmmaking. THE VERDICT A 9/10. Highly recommended and a vault essential. It’s a belter that proves this franchise only gets better with age. Go and watch it for the plane stunt and the Morocco chase—it’s pure, uncut action cinema. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Winging It: Tom Cruise actually hung off the side of an Airbus A400M while it was taking off. He had to wear special contact lenses so he could keep his eyes open against the wind force without them drying out.• Breathless: For the underwater sequence, Tom Cruise trained with professional divers and learned to hold his breath for over six minutes. The entire scene was filmed in long, grueling takes to ensure it looked authentic.• Record Breaker: Rebecca Ferguson didn't have much time for training, but she performed her own stunts—including a massive leap off the roof of the Vienna State Opera—within just a few weeks of joining the production. THE VIBE Like a tuxedo that’s been through a blender. It smells like gunpowder, expensive perfume, and motorcycle exhaust. It makes you want to learn five languages, buy a vintage bike, and realize that the person saving your life might be the one you should trust the least.
