⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Ethan Hunt is a field agent for the IMF, but when a mission in Prague goes south, his entire team is wiped out and he’s framed as the mole. To clear his name and find the real traitor, Ethan has to go rogue, assembling a scratch team of disavowed agents to break into the most secure vault at CIA headquarters. It’s a twisty, paranoid spy thriller where nobody is who they seem, and a single drop of sweat can be the difference between life and death. THE PROS This is a win for bringing a sophisticated, European feel to a big summer blockbuster. Tom Cruise is a total belter as a younger, more vulnerable Ethan Hunt, and the supporting cast—especially Ving Rhames and Jean Reno—are punchy additions. The Langley vault heist is epic status; it’s a masterclass in tension that doesn't need a single gunshot to make your heart race. It’s a good movie because it respects the audience’s intelligence, delivering a plot that’s a celebratory explosion of double-crosses and high-tech gadgets. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the plot can be a bit of a head-scratcher on the first watch; it’s so twisty that you might need a minute to figure out who is working for whom. The final action sequence on the train, while fun, feels a bit dated compared to the grounded tension of the rest of the film.
