⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Everyone’s favorite bear is back, and this time he’s heading home. After receiving news that his Aunt Lucy has gone missing from the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington and the Brown family pack their bags and head to Peru. What starts as a simple visit turns into a sprawling adventure through the Amazon rainforest and up into the mountain peaks. It’s a warm, funny, and beautifully shot journey that tests the family’s survival skills while keeping Paddington’s signature politeness front and center. THE PROS This is a great example of how to do a sequel right. It captures that same magic and kindness that made the first two films so special without feeling like a repeat. Ben Whishaw is perfect as ever, and the addition of Olivia Colman as a guitar-playing nun and Antonio Banderas as a roguish boat captain adds a fresh, funny energy to the cast. It hits an 8 because the visuals are stunning—the Peruvian landscapes look incredible, and the blend of CGI and real locations feels seamless. It’s an honest, feel-good movie that handles themes of heritage and home with real heart, making it just as much for the adults as it is for the kids. THE CONS It misses the perfect score because it lacks a villain as iconic as the ones played by Nicole Kidman or Hugh Grant in the previous films. While the adventure is fun, the stakes can feel a bit lower this time around, and the pacing in the middle of the jungle drags slightly as the group wanders between set pieces.
