But when local police illegally seize his life savings through civil asset forfeiture, Terry finds himself trapped in a gritty standoff with a corrupt department led by Chief Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson). What begins as a pained attempt at a peaceful resolution spirals into a visceral game of tactical chess. Terry must use every bit of his specialized training to navigate a rigged legal system and protect a local whistleblower, all without crossing a line that would make him the very monster he's fighting. THE PROS This is an absolute belter of a thriller that ditches mindless explosions for genuine, pained tension. It hits an 8 because Aaron Pierre is an epic revelation, delivering a performance that is stoic, sincere, and physically imposing. The film is a masterclass in a "languid burn," building pressure with a script that is sharp and intelligent. Don Johnson is a total highlight as the antagonist, playing the corrupt chief with a believable, smug authority rather than a cartoonish villainy.
