    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10​ THE SUMMARY ​Ever wonder what a house cat thinks when its owners break up? Kevin answers that by making the cat the protagonist of his own existential crisis. When his humans split, Kevin (voiced by a perfectly neurotic Jason Schwartzman) decides he’s done with the domestic life and moves into a chaotic pet rescue in Astoria, Queens. It’s an adult animated sitcom that treats animal drama with the same gravity as a messy divorce, featuring a cast of feral misfits that make your average alley cat look like royalty.​ THE PROS ​The voice cast is an absolute fever dream—you’ve got Aubrey Plaza, Whoopi Goldberg as a pill-popping hairless cat, and even John Waters voicing a no-nonsense Persian. It’s "Raunchy Secret Life of Pets" but with a much higher IQ and a lot more cynicism. The setting of Astoria feels like a real character, filled with sentient pizza slices and underground rat networks. It’s fast, mean, and surprisingly heart-filled when it’s not making jokes about feline biology.​ THE CONS ​It leans heavily on the "adult animation" starter pack—expect plenty of raunchy gags and pop culture references that don't always land. If you aren't a fan of the specific "deadpan-weirdo" energy that Aubrey Plaza and Jason Schwartzman bring to everything, you might find the main characters a bit grating. Also, at only eight episodes, some of the side characters feel a bit undercooked, leaving you wanting more from the weirdos in the rescue.​ THE VERDICT ​A solid addition to the "drunken cartoons" genre that’s actually funny enough to justify its existence. It’s not quite a "Guaranteed Banger" yet, but it’s the perfect show to watch when you’re wide awake and wondering if your own pet is judging your life choices. Spoiler: They are.​ INSOMNIAC TRIVIA ​ Aubrey Plaza and co-creator Joe Wengert worked on this show for six years before it finally hit Prime Video in 2026. Plaza even based the setting on her own time living in Astoria. Also, the theme song "I'm Coming Home" was actually composed and performed by the lead actor, Jason Schwartzman—who, in case you forgot, was the drummer for Phantom Planet (the guys who did the The O.C. theme).​ THE VIBE ​ Like being high in a pet store at 2 AM—everything is colorful, slightly aggressive, and much deeper than it has any right to be.
