⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Detective Kat Donovan is a specialist in missing persons cases, but the one person she can’t find is her own fiancé, Josh, who ghosted her eleven years ago. While half-heartedly swiping on a dating app, she’s stunned to see his face pop up as a match. This digital "ghost from the past" kickstarts a frantic investigation that reopens the wounds of her father’s unsolved murder and pulls her into a dark web of missing hikers, corrupt breeders, and a conspiracy that spans decades. It’s the tenth installment in the Harlan Coben-Netflix collection, moving the action from New York to a rain-soaked, moody Manchester. THE PROS This is a 7/10 because it’s the ultimate "hangover TV" binge. Rosalind Eleazar (of *Slow Horses* fame) is excellent as Kat, bringing a grounded, weary grit to a role that could easily have slipped into melodrama. The supporting cast is a "who's who" of British talent, featuring a surprisingly serious turn from Lenny Henry and another reliable performance from Coben-regular Richard Armitage. It’s a winner because it trims the fat—at just five episodes, it avoids the "middle-season sag" that plagued *Fool Me Once*. It delivers exactly what you want from a Coben thriller: high-stakes secrets, rapid-fire cliffhangers, and a resolution that actually manages to tie up its many complicated threads. THE CONS It misses an 8 or 9 because the plot is, frankly, a bit ridiculous. To enjoy it, you have to accept that a professional detective has been lied to by every single person she knows for over a decade without noticing. It settles at a 7 because some of the dialogue is a bit clunky, and the "HarmonyCupid" dating app subplot feels a little dated. While it’s entertaining, it follows the "Coben Formula" so closely that if you’ve seen one of these adaptations, you can probably guess the identity of the villain by the end of episode two. THE VERDICT A solid 7/10. It’s a punchy, atmospheric, and satisfyingly twisty mystery that is perfect for a rainy weekend. It isn't an 8 because of the far-fetched logic, but for pure escapism, it’s a total winner. It’s a step up from some of the longer Coben series, proving that less is often more when it comes to keeping a mystery tight. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Easter Egg Casting: Richard Armitage has appeared in so many Harlan Coben adaptations (including *The Stranger* and *Stay Close*) that fans have dubbed him the "Coben King." Interestingly, this is the first time he plays a character with the same name as the book version: DCI Ellis Stagger.• Song Connection: The title isn't just a coincidence; the 1984 John Waite hit "Missing You" actually serves as a narrative plot point within the show, mirroring a detail from the original 2014 novel.• Social Media Cameo: Look out for a cameo from British social media star GK Barry, who pops up as Vanessa. It’s part of the show's effort to blend classic British TV vets (like James Nesbitt and Steve Pemberton) with modern-day UK pop culture. THE VIBE Like a cold night in Manchester with the heater turned up to the max. It smells like damp pavement, expensive gin, and old police files. It’s tense, shiny, and very bingeable. It makes you want to delete your dating apps, double-check your family history, and realize that some ghosts are better left in the past.
