⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Dexter and Emma spend the night of their graduation together in 1988, and though they go their separate ways, their lives remain tethered for the next twenty years. Each episode drops in on them on the same date—July 15th—checking in as they navigate their twenties and thirties, through failed careers, bad marriages, and the kind of quiet heartbreaks that only happen between two people who belong together but can’t quite figure it out. It’s a beautifully patient study of how time changes people, while the ghost of who they used to be stays exactly the same. THE PROS This is a 9/10 because it fixes everything the previous movie adaptation got wrong. Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall have an electric, natural chemistry that makes the "will-they-won't-they" tension feel agonizingly real. It hits Epic status because of its scope; by giving the story fourteen episodes, you actually feel the weight of the years passing. You see the fashion change, the technology evolve, and the characters grow from arrogant kids into weary adults. It’s a total winner for how it handles the small, messy details of friendship—the inside jokes, the petty arguments, and the unspoken love that lingers in the background of every conversation. THE CONS It misses a 10/10 because the middle stretch can feel a bit repetitive as the characters continue to make the same frustrating mistakes. While the slow-burn is the point, some viewers might find the "near misses" in the later episodes a bit exhausting. It settles at a 9 because, while it’s a masterpiece of the genre, the ending is a notorious gut-punch that will leave you absolutely devastated—which is brilliant, but definitely not "light" viewing. THE VERDICT A massive 9/10. It’s an intimate, funny, and profoundly moving series that is easily one of the best romances ever put to film. It isn't a 10 because of the occasionally frustrating character loops, but for pure emotional impact, it’s a belter. If you want a show that will make you laugh and then ruin your entire week, this is the one. He worked closely with the writers to ensure that the dialogue kept his signature wit and that the new scenes felt like they belonged in the original story.• Global Tour: Filming took the production all over the world to match the characters' travels, including location shoots in Edinburgh, London, Rome, and the Greek island of Paros, capturing the specific "travel-guide" beauty of the book's most famous chapters.
