    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Maria and Ralf are the ultimate "perfect match" who have never actually met. Living in the same small German town, both are stuck in the exhausting loops of mid-life: Maria is a bookstore owner struggling to write her own bestseller while dealing with a messy divorce, and Ralf is a sports shop owner looking for a new purpose and a fresh start. The series follows their separate lives in parallel, showcasing the near-misses, shared frustrations, and cosmic coincidences that suggest they belong together—if only they could step into the same frame. It’s a witty, romantic, and deeply human look at the "what ifs" of modern dating. THE PROS This is an 8/10 because the chemistry between Bastian Pastewka and Anke Engelke is legendary, even when they aren't in the same room. They are icons of German comedy for a reason, and they bring a grounded, slightly neurotic charm to Maria and Ralf that makes you root for them from the first minute. The "near-miss" gimmick is handled with a lot of cleverness rather than frustration, using the scenery of Marburg to create a dreamy, almost fairytale atmosphere. It hits the mark because it finds the humor in the mundane—like a bad Tinder date or a disastrous wellness retreat—without ever losing its heart. It’s a total winner for its sharp writing and its refusal to rush the "big moment." THE CONS It misses a 9/10 because the "parallel lives" structure means the plot can occasionally feel a bit repetitive. Since the two leads don't interact for a long stretch, the show has to rely heavily on its supporting cast, and some of those subplots (like the rival bookseller) aren't quite as engaging as the main duo.
