Overview

The adventures of Joanna Beauchamp and her two adult daughters Freya and Ingrid -- both of whom unknowingly are their family's next generation of witches -- who lead seemingly quiet, uneventful modern day lives in Long Island's secluded seaside town of East Haven. When Freya becomes engaged to a young, wealthy newcomer, a series of events forces Joanna to admit to her daughters they are, in fact, powerful and immortal witches.

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Think *Charmed* but with a darker, sexier Norse mythology twist. *Witches of East End* (2013–2014) follows the Beauchamp family—Joanna and her two daughters, Freya and Ingrid—who live in the sleepy town of East End. The catch? The daughters have no idea they are immortal, powerful witches until an ancient enemy from their past life in Asgard (yes, that Asgard) shows up to settle a score. It’s a two-season blend of family curses, shifting loyalties, and magical combat. By April 2026, it is officially the "Greatest Injustice of the Lifetime Network," as fans are still mourning that brutal Season 2 cliffhanger. THE PROS The cast chemistry is a total win; Julia Ormond, Mädchen Amick, Jenna Dewan, and Rachel Boston actually feel like a family that has spent centuries bickering and bonding. Mädchen Amick as Aunt Wendy is a sincere standout, bringing a witty, feline energy to every scene (literally, she turns into a cat). The show’s biggest win is its unique lore—swapping traditional Wicca for a gritty "Asgardian exile" backstory provided a fresh flavor in the 900+ archive. It wasn't afraid to kill off main characters or get surprisingly dark for a show on a "romance-leaning" network, making it the business for fans of high-stakes fantasy. THE CONS It is a 7/10 because it was cancelled on a "Red Wedding" level cliffhanger. Season 2 ends with one sister pregnant with a demon, another trapped in the past, and a major character’s soul literally being swapped.
